The EFCL Recreational Equipment Rental Program
Equipment Loaning Overview


Purpose

The EFCL's Recreation Lending Program rents program equipment primarily to not-for-profit groups offering local, neighbourhood recreation programs and events. Equipment is also offered to groups that are using the equipment to promote active living to citizens of Edmonton, and groups that are offering events or activities that are offered at free or low cost to citizens of Edmonton.

 

Eligibility

The following are not permitted to borrow equipment:

  • Private Citizens (ie Birthday Parties, family, reunions)

  • For Profit Businesses (ie. day camps, daycares)

  • Possible exemptions might be a for profit group hosting a free public event

  • Groups that are not in good standing (eg. unpaid late fees, equipment coming back not in good condition)

 

Booking Equipment

All equipment is rented and paid for via the EFCL rental website www.efcl.org/rentals/.  Because of COVID-19 restrictions, walk-In rentals will not be accepted at this time. The EFCL rents equipment in 1 week increments, except for walking pole rentals which are booked in 1 month increments. 

 

Equipment Loaning Fees

Cost per kit or item is $10.00 + GST per week.  When extending a booking you are charged the full amount for each additional booking period. Payments must be made online prior to pickup.


Confirmation

After completing your rental purchase, you should receive a receipt and confirmation of your reservation. If you do not, first check your junkmail. You can email kim.tanasichuk@efcl.org for a copy of your receipt.

 


Pickup, Return and COVID-19 Guidelines

Rental pickup and dropoff only occurs on Mondays and Fridays (adjusted by a day if there is a holiday). Please plan your rentals accordingly. Our office hours on Mondays and Fridays are 9:00am - 4:30pm. We recommend using a sanitizing protocol while the equipment is in use, in between users, for example. Please clean and sanitize all items before you return them back to EFCL.


Please return equipment on time as other groups may have booked that item.  If you need to extend your rental, please contact the EFCL to see if that piece of equipment is available in the extended time slot.

 

Late Requests and Late Equipment Drop-offs

Due to the high demand of equipment late requests can not be accommodated. Equipment must be returned by 4:30 PM on the agreed upon return date. If equipment is not returned on time you will be charged the weekly/monthly rental fee until the item is returned.

 

Lost, Damaged, or Soiled Equipment

We recognize that events, at times, can be chaotic therefore if equipment is lost there will be a two week grace period to allow time to look for the missing items. After two weeks groups will be charged the full cost of the missing item. 


If the item is damaged but can be repaired the group will be charged the full cost of repairs. If the item is damaged beyond repair the group will be charged the full cost of the item. If the damage is visibly caused by wear and tear, for example, a bean bag breaking open there will be no charge as long as the wear and tear is not excessive. 


If equipment is returned in poor condition, for example muddy, wet, or smelly, there will be a cleaning fee. The cleaning fee is $22/hour and if extensive cleaning is required groups may be charged for more than one hour of cleaning. It is recommended that groups plan a time to inspect equipment prior to returning it to ensure it is in the same condition as it was at pickup.

 

Changes and Cancellation

All changes and cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to the agreed upon pick up date. Any changes or cancellations after this time will result in a charge for the full amount of the equipment request.
